New Ontario Provincial Pesticide Regulation
Question:
Are you still able to provide service to my lawn?
Answer:
Absolutely! This new regulation will not affect our 2008 services to you. However, even after it comes into force, we are prepared to adapt accordingly. (We have already been operating under similar ban conditions in communities across Ontario and Quebec for years.)We have more experience and resources to service your property under these regulations than any other company.
Question:
Why should I continue to use your service?
You need our service now more than ever. We remain committed to providing the highest quality lawn service available. Let’s use 2008 as the time to get your lawn in top shape and better prepared. When the new regulation is in effect our continued service provides an additional value to you, the peace of mind in knowing that your lawn is being cared for within compliance of all laws and regulations.
Question:
Who does this new regulation apply to?
Answer:
It applies to anyone, including do-it-yourself homeowners, who will no longer be able to purchase or apply certain control products to their lawn (including granular weed and feed products).
Question:
Are the products you use dangerous for our health/children/pets/environment?
Answer:
Health Canada has registered every pest control product we use. They are safe when use according to the label, and that is exactly how we use them. We are licensed and certified, and we use these products only where and when required. As a common sense precaution, we recommend that you stay off the treated area until the application is dry. We recognize the movement towards a “green” environmental approach in all aspects of our society. We have and will continue to contribute to this initiative with our move towards alternative products and services moving forward.
Question:
What about the weeds / insects in my lawn?
Answer:
This regulation will not affect our 2008 services. We have been servicing communities across Ontario and Quebec for years with local regulations similar to this new province-wide law and we have maintained the highest quality lawn service available. We are currently testing alternative products and working with the provincial government to ensure practical solutions are available.
The two major key factors for your lawn are proper fertilization and effective cultural practices including, mowing height and frequency and watering. Having a thick healthy lawn is the best way to control weeds and insect infestations. Without continuation of our program, and utilizing these proper cultural practices, as recommended by our certified technicians at each visit, your lawn will most likely be taken over by weeds in a matter of time.
Question:
I do not want to worry about pesticides. Do you offer any alternatives now to pesticide programs?
Answer:
Our organic-based (pesticide-free) program is designed for those customers who want high quality lawn care without pesticides. This program offers exclusive high quality organic-based fertilizers that include corn gluten meal. We are continually investing in innovative methods to manage weed and insect problems as alternatives to traditional lawn care. While they may not provide the level of weed or insect control of traditional programs, these methods, along with good cultural practices on the homeowner's part, will promote a healthy, attractive, lawn.
