What is Core Aeration?
Core aeration is performed with a specially designed machine, resembling a large lawn mower. It moves across the lawn and removes cores from the soil to a depth of 1 to 2 inches. These cores are left on the lawn to break down naturally with regular mowing and watering.
Who should receive a Core Aeration?
Every lawn will benefit from a core aeration. Soils in most residential subdivisions are not ideal for growing healthy turf without help. While core aeration will benefit every lawn, it is particularly essential for lawns on heavy clay soil, poor drainage lawns, and lawns with a developing thatch problem.
What are the benefits of Core Aeration?
What do I need to do?
Nothing. The cores should be left on the lawns surface and will break down with regular mowing and rainfall or watering. This also helps to redistribute organic matter to the thatch layer in the lawn. Lawn aeration services will not damage a properly installed underground irrigation system. However, if you have an irrigation system, we ask that you let us know and mark the irrigation heads with sticks or stakes prior to our treatment.
